After a generation under a spell that stifled free thought, the village of Deep River reawakens. But how can Elic trust any decisions he made before he was liberated? While considering whether to break his engagement to his childhood sweetheart, Elic reads his late mentor's diary and finds unexpected connections to his present dilemma … and to the mysterious figure at the heart of the curse. "This is a sweet tale, even if I wanted to slap Elic on occasion. I love it when supporting characters take over the story." -Angelika Rust, author of the Resident Witch series "A quiet, lyrical interlude in the midst of longer, more perilous adventures." -Steven E. Scribner, author of the Tond and MadStones series "She's done it! After reading Deep River Rising, I have to admit it: Karen Eisenbrey has made me a fan of cozy romantasies. Low-spice, no bloodshed, and smalltown stakes, and I enjoyed every minute of it!"-Benjamin Gorman, author of The Convention of Fiends trilogy
