You hear of the onset of the French and Indian War in this book. Symbolism dominates the series. The title represents a Muslim, Jewish, and Christian story shared on the cover with the Buddhist temple at Angkor Wat. Maintaining the freedom conscious message asserted and continuing throughout the series set in the American Colonies. David Smith an obscure character is named after a man you spent thirty years institutionalized for mental illness in the American 19th century. And the sling is held in the hands a African boy, Ransom, representing the hope many Americans had prior to the end of slavery.
