The financial technology industry operates at the intersection of rapid innovation and complex regulation - where the decisions companies make about data, compliance, and governance have consequences that reach far beyond the balance sheet.
Data Ethics and Regulatory Concepts in FinTech equips working professionals with the analytical frameworks to identify regulatory risk, reason through ethical dilemmas, and evaluate governance failures across the full landscape of modern FinTech - from cryptocurrency and open banking to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity law.
Written for an undergraduate audience, this text covers the U.S. regulatory framework, cryptocurrency classification and fraud, banking and payment systems, WealthTech and robo-advisors, data ethics and privacy law, cybersecurity threats and legal response, risk management and internal controls, corporate governance, AML and KYC compliance, and artificial intelligence in financial services.
Each chapter integrates contemporary real-world cases - FTX, Wirecard, the Apple Card gender bias investigation, the Equifax breach, and others - to ground regulatory and ethical concepts in the decisions professionals actually face. The result is a practical, current, and purpose-built resource for students entering or already working in the financial technology sector.
