In this prequel of the series, every major city on Earth has been destroyed by the Mesaarkan's in revenge for a massacre on a distant colony by and Earth survey team. Cyborgs have been created by the thousands to fight the hundred year war. While the fighting goes on in distant colonies survivors and their descendants struggle to survive in what was once Chicago. They live in ruined buildings without utilities or running water much like the pioneers in the 19th century. Chris Myers has been a science fiction fan since seeing the original "Day the Earth Stood Still" at age eight. Her favorite subgenre is space opera romance. Among the most influential in her work are the Lazarus Long novels by Robert Heinlein including "Time Enough for Love", Marta Randall's "Journey" and of course "Star Wars", everything "Star Trek" and "Fire Fly".A lifelong resident of Silver Lake, NY she wrote her first novella at age fifteen. She has a BA in Cultural Studies from Empire State College majoring in creative writing. She writes a regular column in the local weekly newspaper "Perry Herald". Chris has written four novels in The Aledan Series: Cyborgs were created to fight an interstellar war. Part of the strategy to induce them to fight was the promise of a genetic mate to love and build a family.When the 100-year interstellar When the war was over, cyborgs came back to Earth to rebuild and find their genetic mates.
