Carrie Violet, founder of the popular Instagram Memorial Stitches, has conjured up 20 macabre embroidery patterns that are the perfect way to show off your inner spooky side. From vampires that stalk the night and witches boiling up trouble to more folkloric patterns depicting scenes like Persephone's descent to the underworld and All Souls Night, each piece features Carrie's signature gothic, style emphasizing clean minimal lines so readers will be excited to display their work all year-round.
Every project will focus on a different technique to help readers master the most important stitches. They'll use the French knot stitch for overgrown moss on a forgotten tombstone, loose dangling threads to emphasize a vampire's bloodthirst, or a running stitch to capture Baphomet's wild fur. Full of easy-to-follow steps and Carrie's best tips and techniques for adding extra texture that really bring these pieces to life, this collection is perfect for fiber artists with a propensity toward the peculiar. Carrie Violet is the fiber artist behind Memorial Stitches. She sells embroidery artwork in her signature gothic style on her website of the same name. Carrie lives in the UK.
