After fleeing Scotland in 1746, the McNeil clan establishes new roots in Virginia. Aaron's reunion with his father, Neil, and his brother, Duncan, promises a fresh beginning -- until Neil's oldest son, John, arrives, expecting forgiveness and stirring conflict within the family. As settlers push deeper into the Blue Ridge Mountains, the simmering rivalry between France and England erupts into the French and Indian War. Against this backdrop of danger and change, Aaron's children grow up navigating both the demands of frontier survival and the refined expectations of colonial society -- especially Jamie, who must learn to move between both worlds. This is the ongoing story of the McNeils -- of family, conflict, and resilience -- as they claim their place in the New World.
