Matt Stone was Delta Force's finest-tough, brilliant, and unstoppable. But when a classified mission in Afghanistan goes sideways, jealous officers give him an impossible choice: face a court-martial or leave the military in disgrace.
Forced out of the unit he lived for, Matt reinvents himself as a bodyguard in post-war Baghdad-a place where the bullets still fly and loyalties are paper-thin. When an oil executive narrowly escapes an ambush thanks to Matt's quick trigger and instincts, the two flee Iraq under fire and land in Houston.
There, for the first time, Matt finds something worth fighting for: peace, and a woman who makes him believe there might be a future beyond combat.
But peace never lasts.
A Hollywood producer lures Matt to Morocco with a high-paying job-protecting a headstrong actress on a troubled film set. She wants nothing to do with a bodyguard, and the studio doesn't trust him. But when an attempted hit turns into a professional kidnapping, Matt becomes the only thing standing between her and a fate far worse than death.
Wounded and hunted, Matt must push himself beyond the battlefield to rescue Jodie-and find his way back to the life, and the love, he never thought he'd have.
