By His Stripes

When Matthew watched Jesus heal the sick in the evening and declared, "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (Matthew 8:17), the Holy Spirit was not merely cataloging miracles - He was unveiling the deepest purpose of the cross. The same stripes that ransomed bodies from disease ransomed souls from sin (1 Peter 2:24), and the same anointing oil that James commands the elders to apply (James 5:14-15) is a sign of a deeper, settled, eternal healing already purchased at Calvary. This book argues that the Christian world has divided what God joined together - treating physical healing as the prosperity preacher's playground and spiritual healing as a vague metaphor - when, in truth, "by His stripes we are healed" is the gospel's most personal, most powerful, and most neglected promise.
