The Duke of Blegborough fears the official opening of Janet Merton's grave, as he believes its contents will shed an unwelcome light on his late wife. Bobby Owen of Scotland Yard is tasked with investigating the grave, and he soon discovers that the local rector, Rev. Thorne, vanished into thin air two years earlier while on an evening stroll.
