Christmas was never meant to be perfect.
The first Christmas was messy. An unexpected pregnancy. Plans that fell apart. No room. A baby born among animals. Shepherds on the night shift as the very first guests. And right in the middle of it all, God came near.
Born in the Mess is a devotional journal for every woman whose Christmas doesn't look like the cards: the one who's exhausted by holiday pressure, missing someone at the table, navigating complicated family, or longing for December to mean something more.
Through four weeks of hope, peace, joy, and love, you'll walk through the Christmas story and meet the people God chose to include: a family tree full of outsiders, a troubled teenage mother, a man whose plans fell apart, shepherds no one invited. Then the journey continues past December 25 with twelve readings for the days after Christmas: the letdown, the quiet house, the bills, and the turn of a new year.
Inside you'll find:
• 25 Advent devotionals, December 1 through Christmas Day
• 12 Christmastide readings, December 26 through Epiphany
• Two reflection questions every day, plus a Make Room practice: one small, doable way to make space for Jesus
• Weekly candle-lighting readings for families, friends, and small groups
• "When Christmas Hurts," a gentle section for anyone grieving or struggling this season
• It's undated, so you can return to it every year.
Your mess doesn't scare God. Christmas is the proof.
