Blood and Water

An unexplained death. A valuable ranch. And water worth killing for. When an aging rancher drives his pickup into the Flint River and dies, the tragedy initially appears to be a simple accident. But there is one problem: no one can explain what caused either the crash or his death. The circumstances trouble C.W. Blakenship and his occasional crime-solving partner, Jake Grummond. Their uneasiness deepens as the rancher's heirs begin fighting over the property and an out-of-state resort developer takes an intense interest in something potentially even more valuable than the land itself-its water rights. What begins as a suspicious accident develops into an increasingly dangerous investigation as competing interests collide, motives emerge, and the bodies begin to accumulate. Blakenship and Grummond must determine who stands to gain from the rancher's death before the struggle over land, money, and water claims more lives.Set against the rugged landscape and scarce resources of Colorado's Western Slope, Blood and Water is a mystery thriller about family, greed, development, and the lengths people will go to control one of the American West's most precious resources.
