You don't always need words to make a friendship bloom. A touching ode to language and home by debut picture book author-illustrator, Saki Tanaka.
Kai is used to following his Pa throughout the seasons, from place to place, where people speak words unfamiliar to his ears and tongue. When they finally rest in a valley full of pools, Kai tries to invite the other children to join in his play, but the strangeness of his words drives them away. In a moment of frustration, he sends his most treasured object flying into the lake and in the process of searching for it, finds something even more valuable.
Dive into a whimsical tale of unexpected friendship, told with compassion and warmth by Saki Tanaka in her authorial debut. Her warm brushes of color bring Kai's world to life as the uplifting ending shows that friends can be made no matter where you are in the world.
