Between Two Horizons is a sweeping, lyrical coming-of-age story set between the 1960s and 1990s, amid the vagaries of the Cold War. Born in a small village, a boy's life unfolds amid rituals, secrets, and the quiet dignity of rural life, until exile carries him away.
From the rhythms of oral storytelling to the silence of foreign streets, this haunting memoir traces the delicate fractures of identity and belonging. It captures the weight of migration, the ache of leaving, and the fragile hope of rebuilding a sense of home in a world where home keeps shifting. At once intimate and political, the book moves through personal memories and global histories-colonial legacies, Cold War displacements, diasporic yearnings-woven together with lush and poetic prose. It is a meditation on what we carry when we leave, what we lose, and what we choose to remember.
For readers of Teju Cole, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, NoViolet Bulawayo, and Hisham Matar, this is a story of resilience and reinvention, of searching for belonging when the places that made you no longer remain the same.
