After the close of the American Civil War men went back to what had been home. For many of them it meant starting overdo rebuild a new life. Such was the case with Benjamin Franklin Harris an eighteen year old boy turned into a man. Traveling, or in his case walking, west with a group of exwar friends God directed him to an immigrant German farmer who wanted nothing more than to be a good American and see his daughters married. Hans and Bessie Fredrickson took Benjamin into their home and became his new family
