FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR SHAKIA ARTSON comes an inspiring compilation of short stories and poems about a Black girl's Brooklyn.
Do you remember your childhood? Don't feel ashamed if you do not, because most of us work overtime to forget what has made us. With a story telling like Toni Morrison wrapped in the edge of Sister Souljah, Artson sits us in the center of her raw beginnings. Every chapter, she plummets into her past, to uncover her Being.
Writing down the most intimate moments of fear, joy, and love has helped free her from suicide and mental illness. Now, she has channeled the many voices and stories of black women before her, to find the courage to pen her own memoir.
The Being ideology proclaims, "We will not just BE stagnant or traumatized. Instead, we are constantly BEING who God has already destined us to be." Will you allow the pain from your past to penetrate your present? How far back are you willing to travel to heal your future?
