In Behind the Scenes: Myth, Magic, and Makeup, Victor Callegari, long-time head makeup artist for the Metropolitan Opera (1975-2010), shares his love for the company, backstage insights, and personal anecdotes and recollections from forty-five years backstage at the Met. Photographs of many of his one-of-a-kind character makeups illustrate the narrative. The hope is that opera lovers and students of voice may all find inspiration and knowledge in these pages.
