Any reader with a stocked bar and a sweet tooth is bound to add this cookbook to their shelf. Michael Johnson, author of Simple Small Batch Baking and Even Better Brownies, shares his expertise on how to use your home bar to take your baked goods to the next level. Not only does alcohol offer interesting new flavors to old familiars, but it can enhance the texture or consistency-for example soaking a cake in wine or bourbon can make it more moist or adding some vodka to your pie crust can help create a super flaky dough.
Johnson prides himself on creating recipes that are not only mouthwatering, but attainable for bakers of any skill level. Boozy Hot Chocolate Cookies are the perfect addition to any holiday treat spread, and White Wine Lemon Bars are sure to be a crowd pleaser at every summer cookout. Readers who lean towards a savory bake will find themselves making Cheesy Garlic Beer Breadsticks over and over (which pairs perfectly with a Vodka Sauce Pizza!). For anyone looking for creative ways to use their home bar, this collection is sure to be a trusted guide. Mike Johnson is the author of bestselling cookbooks Simple Small Batch Baking and Even Better Brownies. He's been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, NY Magazine, and Williams Sonoma.
