Claire Emerson is a talented freelance graphic designer with a knack for bold choices-and the occasional embarrassing blunder. When she rushes into a café to meet a new client, she mistakenly sits down across from the wrong "Adam" and pitches her services to a complete stranger. But instead of awkwardly correcting her, the handsome veterinarian across the table goes along with it. And just like that, a misunderstanding turns into an unforgettable first meeting.
Adam Wells wasn't expecting his day to include a surprise portfolio presentation, nor the instant connection he feels with the vibrant, scattered, beautiful stranger who mistakes him for someone else. Intrigued, he invites Claire to stay. The conversation flows. The chemistry builds. And when the real client never shows, the accident becomes something neither of them can forget.
As their not-a-date evolves into real plans, coffee turns into dinner, shared laughs turn into late-night confessions, and a cat named Sandwich surprisingly approves, Claire and Adam navigate the delicate path between "almost" and "real." But when Adam's ex unexpectedly reappears-and Claire is offered the career opportunity of a lifetime-their relationship faces its first true test. Set against the cozy backdrop of coffee shops, trivia nights, and vet clinics, Awkward Beginnings is a slow-burn romantic novella about timing, second chances, and finding real love in the most unexpected places. Sometimes the wrong seat at the right table leads you exactly where you're meant to be.
