When Sean, as a young boy, is forced by the king to leave his family to train as a healer at the Hyeeminseo School of Medicine, his parents' world comes crashing down. But it soon becomes clear that the boy has a special gift and has been chosen by the Breath of Heaven to heal the realm. Thus begins a wondrous journey through magical worlds, in which Sean learns not only how to heal, but why we heal-that healing means both remembering and forgetting-and that he himself must heal, and that some illnesses can only be healed by oneself. Along the way, Sean encounters a breathing gate, a floor made of memories, a glass bird, fire spirits, and beings that look older than time itself. On his journey, he finds Liora-a question.
