About
An anatomically accurate heart is not a symbol.
It is an organ. A muscle.
It does not beat because we tell it to.
It is not loyal to intention.
It runs on oxygen and electricity.
On current.
On pressure.
It can flood.
It can starve.
It can rupture under its own force.
What follows is a heartbeat.
What feeds it.
What breaks it.
What remains when it burns.
Written for the violence and beauty of loving fully.
Second collection by Adam-Dylan Bowlby.
