An Affair to Forget is the true story of how the author found out about her husband's affair, her reaction to it, and how she eventually managed to find peace and acceptance. Although it is an account of her personal journey, many can identify with her experience: the disbelief and anger felt at the moment she discovers the message on her husband's cellphone, the crazy and obsessed snooping through his private papers and personal belongings, the anger, hurt and humiliation at being the party betrayed, the deep mourning of a lost love, and, finally, through a process of painful self-discovery and self-analysis, the realisation that it had all been for the best, that she is now stronger than ever.
An Affair to Forget is a brutally honest and open account of an affair, but although it is primarily one woman's story, it also uncovers a universal theme: How do you cope when this happens to you? What is your reaction, and how do you get over it? Can you get over it? The author interviews several people whose lives were affected by affairs, and in the painful, often disturbing process finds the way to her own spiritual renewal. In addition, psychologists give interesting professional advice and a private investigator reveals some surprising information.
This is not a book that accuses or judges but a sincere attempt to find out why people hurt those they love. Ultimately, it is an uplifting and spiritual book that will resonate with the thousands of people who have been touched, one way or another, by an affair to forget.
