America must rediscover its national heritage, rooted in the Enlightenment, Western Christianity, and classical Greece and Rome. We now live in an age when traditional values and Western civilization itself are under assault from nearly every side. This book seeks to celebrate the American story, so rarely taught today, by highlighting how it began, where we are presently, and answers for the future. Its message is for all people of goodwill, regardless of race, political party, or religious persuasion.
It acknowledges God because that much should be self-evident from American history and the founding documents. By what authority did the colonists dare to challenge the King of England, George III, and notify him that they had seized his thirteen colonies? The Declaration of Independence answers that question by appealing to the laws of nature and nature's God, the Creator. The authors of America Rediscovered believe that readers may find understanding, hope, and answers in the postmodern age if we seek to strengthen traditional foundations and build a more perfect union.
