Dr. Justin Wright has built his career helping troubled minds find their way back to stability. But when Frank Devlin enters his Manhattan office, Justin realizes he may be facing the most complicated-and dangerous-case of his career.
Frank is losing time. He wakes in unfamiliar places, discovers conversations he cannot remember, and receives messages addressed to names that are not his own. As Justin digs deeper, he uncovers the truth: Frank is living with multiple identities, each formed by a childhood marked by abandonment, cruelty, and unspeakable trauma.
There is anxious, vulnerable Frank. Charming and confident Alex. Gentle Matthew. And Nathan-a volatile, calculating presence who believes survival depends on keeping the others exactly as they are.
Justin is determined to help them coexist and give Frank the life he deserves. What he does not know is that Frank's identities have already begun slipping beyond the boundaries of the therapy room. One of them has discovered Justin's family online. One has found a way into his son Dylan's apartment. And one is watching the Wright family closely enough to exploit every wound they have never managed to heal.
Seven years earlier, Justin and his wife, Mandy, lost their youngest son to a kidnapping that shattered their family. Mandy still refuses to surrender hope. Dylan carries the guilt of having been responsible for his little brother that day. And Justin has buried his pain beneath his work, convinced that saving others might somehow make up for the child he could not save.
Now the patient he wants to rescue is drawing dangerously close to the people Justin loves most.
As identities collide, buried memories surface, and obsession turns into revenge, Justin must determine who is speaking the truth-and which personality is willing to kill to remain alive. But by the time he understands how deeply Frank has entered his life, the threat is no longer confined to one damaged mind.
It is inside Justin's family.
