Rather than a relationship reset as empty nesters, Michael walks out on Stephanie, leaving her alone and depressed. Her close friend, Ellen, encourages Stephanie to consider a fresh start. Stephanie takes the bold step of confronting her childhood trauma and the catalyst behind the demise of her marriage. Months of therapy prepare Stephanie for her next life endeavor, joining a book writing clinic throughout Italy, her beloved ancestral homeland.
Physically and emotionally stronger than she has ever been, Stephanie immerses herself in the wonders Italy has to offer while learning writing techniques from the charismatic, handsome, tour leader, Gianni Ciabattini. During visits to stunning sites, cultural centers, the majestic seaside, and the lemon hub of the world, Stephanie develops a strong bond with three of the women on the book writing tour. Each woman also has a story to tell and deep secrets to reveal as they embrace their own personal journey. Through their developing friendship, touring, and writing, Stephanie and her friends return home with so much more than words on a page.
The path in front of Stephanie is wide open. Will she continue to find her stride along the way? If she succumbs to her attraction to Gianni, does that mean she's returning to the comfort of her previous dysfunctional behavior or is she simply writing the next chapter of her story on her terms?
