Seventeen-year-old Lyndsey finally convinces her overprotective father to trust her with the family car. What begins as a simple outing with her friends-Tyler, a history enthusiast with autism, and Conor, sharp-witted and strong despite living with cerebral palsy-quickly turns into a life-changing adventure.
Their search for Civil War relics at Adrian Lake uncovers more than musket balls and buttons; Lyndsey discovers a buried box containing a soldier's heartfelt letter and a hand-carved wooden horse meant for his young daughter. But before they can savor the discovery, tragedy strikes. Two local boys fall through the frozen lake, and it's up to Lyndsey, Tyler, and Conor to summon courage, ingenuity, and faith to save them. In the process, each friend proves that real strength comes not from perfection, but from resilience, loyalty, and heart.
Their journey doesn't end at the lake. Guided by history and compassion, the trio travels to a cemetery to deliver their own gift to Annie-the daughter who never received her father's last message. In doing so, they learn that the past and present can be bound together by love, remembrance, and the power of friendship.
A story of bravery, discovery, and heart, this tale reminds us that treasures aren't always found in the ground-they're often found in each other.
