This book, first published during WWII in 1942, is reporter O'Dowd Gallagher's account of nine eventful months in southeastern Asia. During his stay in Singapore, the Japanese bought to fruition their carefully conceived plan for striking simultaneously at Pearl Harbor, Malaya, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the Netherlands Indies. An absorbing first-hand record of the brutal opening phases of the Second World War in the Far East.
