Barb and Gayle had lost touch over the years, but their fateful reacquaintance on a Halloween night revealed they had a lot in common-including their deepest secrets. Both women were suffering from romantic obsessions with married men and the belief that they couldn't let go of one man until they had another one to hold on to. Their shared secret, a medical crisis, and a chance meeting with a Sri Lankan medicine man led them to realize that they had been seeking fulfillment in all the wrong places. This put them on a course toward a radical idea: to live a year without a man. They rediscover who they were as individuals and reemerge stronger, more confident, and happier than ever before. A Year Without a Man follows Barb's and Gayle's moments of clarity and confidence, and relapses and lows. By day 365, the questions they ask themselves and the answers they receive are more profound than those they started with. The authenticity they find within themselves and their friendship, changes their lives forever.
