A Westside Story is a novel based around the character of Damen Batch, a private bodyguard. Damen who is an ex United States Air Force Sergeant working to protect a senator that is running for governor of the State of Illinois. Things start going bad from the beginning as he is unsuccessful in protecting the senator's wife from a jaw dropping death.
Damen's life is turned upside down dealing with the depression of losing the senator's wife, then let go from the senator's security detail and he ends up back in his hometown of Chicago. Sitting inside the bar that he owns and on the verge of losing all his life's works as one his old military bud walks inside the bar in hopes of getting him back on his feet. The old buddy offers Damen a job working for one of the city's most notorious crime figures taking the job paying life changing money.
Damen ends up as a personal bodyguard for the aging gangster's old lady. Working audaciously to protect the woman caught up in the middle of her man's criminal career. As a heavy street war kicks off between some new up and upcoming younger street guys, and the organization in which he now has ties too. Romantic sparks light between him and boss' lady. Falling hard for the boss' woman and being played like a puppet by one of the book's antagonists' characters he must work extra hard to protect the boss's organization. While also protecting his secret relationship with the boss' girlfriend.
