A captivating young adult fantasy about finding your voice when the world tries to write your story for you.
When fourteen-year-old Cassie is sent to a weekend artists' retreat at an abandoned psychiatric facility, she expects boring workshops and trust falls. What she finds instead is a labyrinth where stories have power, reality bends like watercolor, and something sinister lurks beneath the promise of "finding your voice."
The retreat at the Stacks-a sprawling former factory complex with a dark history-is nothing like the brochure promised. Hallways stretch impossibly long, rooms flood with indoor rain, and a clever rook needs help finding its way home. Guided by an eccentric scholar in a wheelchair and a mysterious new friend named Tara, Cassie must navigate a place where the line between story and reality has dangerously blurred.
As Cassie discovers she's "Sharp"-naturally attuned to the narrative forces that shape our world-she realizes she's tangled up in someone else's story. To save her new friends and find her way home, she must stop being a passenger in her own life and claim the power to tell her story in her own voice.
Part hero's journey, part meditation on creativity and control, A Storytelling weaves mythology, literature, and magic into an unforgettable adventure about the power we all have to write our own lives-if we're brave enough to pick up the pen.
