A Shared Fire is the first book in a trilogy of epic fantasies. It follows the adventures of four young friends, who find themselves lost in an unfamiliar reality. The group is forced to navigate a harrowing odyssey, full of difficult challenges and terrible dangers, as they desperately search for a way back home.
Mark Pierson is a shy thirteen-year-old, still mourning the recent loss of his mother and sister. Elise Mokette is a wild chaotic tomboy, who cares more about the various pets she keeps in her room than the expectations of her teachers or family. Bobby Kendell is an aloof outsider, slightly resentful of the clear purpose and direction his older brothers constantly exhibit. Naiyana Tanaka is a newcomer to town, and feels isolated by her alien presence in a culture she's still learning to understand. Despite their differing backgrounds, the children find great comfort in their shared friendship and after school adventures.
While playing on a frozen lake together, the group plummets through the ice and drowns in the cold depths below. They awaken in a bizarre new world. Their bodies altered by strange transformations and each wielding unique mystical abilities.
The children navigate their new surroundings, desperately searching for a way back home. As they explore the realms, they meet outlandish creatures and learn about the powerful governing forces that shape their new plane of existence. But, dark malevolent forces seek them out, hunting a precious treasure one of them unwittingly carries.
Mark, Elise, Bobby, and Naiyana must band together to embark on an odyssey full of spectacular wonders and terrifying dangers if they ever hope to see Earth again...
