Recovering Jesus: Help Is Here Now

A Course in Miracles, the Gospel of Thomas, and the Search for the Historical Jesus Behind Christian OrthodoxyWhat if the real teaching of Jesus was never about religion at all - but about awakening from a dream of separation into non-dual truth?Recovering Jesus: Help Is Here Now traces the lost thread between the historical Jesus and the spiritual teacher rediscovered through A Course in Miracles, the Gospel of Thomas, and centuries of suppressed scholarship. Drawing on more than sixty years of research into Gnosticism, Sufism, and the nineteenth-century Dutch Radikalkritik movement, this book asks a question mainstream Christianity has avoided since Nicaea: what happened to Jesus's actual teaching in the centuries before church doctrine took over?Inside, you'll discover:How A Course in Miracles and the Gospel of Thomas both point back to a Jesus teaching non-dual awakening, not religious beliefThe forgotten Dutch scholars - Allard Pierson, Samuel Naber, and theologian J.W. Kaiser - who challenged Pauline Christianity generations before modern historical-Jesus scholarship caught upNew connections between Gnosticism, Sufi mysticism, and Ken Wapnick's teaching on the CourseWhy the split between Jesus and Paul may be the most consequential - and least examined - fork in religious historyFor readers of A Course in Miracles, students of Gnostic and Gospel of Thomas scholarship, and anyone drawn to the historical Jesus beyond church doctrine, Recovering Jesus offers a rigorously researched, deeply personal path back to a teacher largely lost beneath two thousand years of tradition. With a foreword by Gary Renard, author of The Disappearance of the Universe.
