16 Rock-Solid Principles that Will Help You Fortify the Way You Lead, Wherever You Lead Are you facing a difficult-some would say impossible-leadership task? Do you need to turn around a business that is spiraling downward or stuck in a rut? Is your church declining and struggling financially? Is there an opportunity you need to grab hold of before someone else does? Are you dealing with the double jeopardy of external opposition and internal dissension? Is your team tired and dispirited and have the critics made you want to give up? Would you like a chance to shadow a great leader to learn how he successfully dealt with all these things? If so, 16 Stones is for you. When Nehemiah arrived at Jerusalem 2500 years ago, his job was to restore this once great city that had lain in ruins for more than a century. Where did he start? At the wall. It had been a pile of rubble for 140 years. In the ancient world, a wall was essential to the security, significance, and success of any prominent city. Without it, the whole place was exposed to attack by its enemies, and the people inside spent their lives surviving, not thriving. Only fifty two days after Nehemiah took the reins of leadership, the wall was up, the gates were hung, and the people were celebrating. How did it happen? Nehemiah provided the one thing the people needed most-great leadership. And great leadership is what your people need most too. Whatever you face, the first task is to become a better leader, and in this book, Dick Wells outlines 16 steps-based on Nehemiah's story-you can take to raise the level of your leadership. With these principles, you get there the same way you raise a wall, one stone at a time. Build each of them into the way you lead, and your organization-or whomever you lead-will become more secure, more significant, and more successful, now and for years to come.
