"Kumite is like a conversation where instead of words you exchange fists." Shinya and Takumi have joined the elite Kawasaki Ukishima Junior High Karate Club. Waiting for them is the Kanagawa prefectural tournament. This is the first real tournament for Shinya, and he is struck by the atmosphere of the grounds and the passion of his rivals. Shinya is still in the beginning of his journey through the long and rugged path of karate, but he's already run past everyone else with his cheerful and fun attitude.
