Destroying the spirit of the enemy is the goal of war and the aliens had the best way! Every member of their strange society, all 100,000,000 of them were willing to die to prevent the humans from profaning their sacred temple. Did I say willing to die? Heck they were absolutely eager to die. It was a difficult situation for the human crew who just wanted to get enough fuel to limp home in their old spaceship.
