I know because I was one of them-an assassin trained to kill without question and vanish without a trace. Five years ago on a mission, the unthinkable happened. We were ambushed by one of our own, and when the man I loved bled out in my arms, I did the only thing I could to survive. I ran.
Now I'm back in Amagi with a plan. I'll uncover who betrayed us, and every name on that list will pay. Slowly. Painfully.
But my plan never factored in a sharp-witted merchant with an easy smile.
The attraction between us is immediate and before I know it, Nico has slipped past my defenses. My heart wants to trust him. With my secrets. With my scars. With the parts of me I swore died with Kas. But he has ties to one of the city's most powerful families, and he's dangerously perceptive.
He's a distraction I can't afford. I need to finish what I started.
