Tong Yuwan born in a declining Manchu royal family in the late Qing dynasty. She eventually revitalized her family business by her own strength and wisdom and became a leading strong woman in Shanghai after spanning the Xuan tong, the revolution of 1911, the northern expedition and the anti-Japanese war.
