Fractures

As you know, hate breeds hate, violence breeds violence. But who could have imagined that on the basis of long-standing events in distant lands such a tangle of intricate human passions and madness would arise, as in Frank Tillier's novel "Fractures"! Alice realizes that something is wrong with her, black holes appear in her memory every now and then. Treatment by psychiatrist Luke Graham, it would seem, should lead to recovery. However, strange events are multiplying around the young woman. For example, how to explain that a photograph of her twin sister, who died ten years ago, fell into the hands of a refugee hiding from the authorities. How to understand why her own father attacked her and now claims to have tried to commit suicide, where did the bloody blouse come from in the bathroom, and finally, where does a completely motionless naked man, found at the bus stop? Is this a plunge into madness?
