This book has 172 chapters. After The First Sino-Japanese War of 1894 - 1895 failed, the Chinese people fell into the bottomless abyss. The conservative forces headed by Empress Dowager Cixi were corrupt and incompetent, causing public anger. Reformists such as Tan Sitong, Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao supported Guangxu Emperor's political reform. Due to Yuan Shikai's defection, they were openly suppressed by the conservative forces such as Empress Dowager Cixi and Rong Lu, and the political reform failed. Tan Sitong and other six gentlemen were beheaded. Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao narrowly escaped abroad. Later, the Zhongxing Committee headed by Sun Yat-Sen assumed the great responsibility of overthrowing the Qing dynasty.
