He was awarded a PhD in philosophical theology from the University of Tübingen, with postdoctoral study of Meister Eckhart. Pat O'Donohue attended Maynooth College, receiving his BD in theology in 1978. After living in London, he returned to County Clare, writing and continuing to further the legacy of his beloved brother, John O'Donohue.
