About
A gripping new Bletchley Park Mystery novel, from Rhian Tracey, author of I, SPY and HIDE AND SEEK.
Mary has a gift for languages and codes that has brought her to the attention of the adults working at Bletchley Park. She finds herself drawn into their undercover operations, learning Japanese in order to decode enemy messages - but the operation she's a part of remains cloaked in mystery.
As tensions on the Home Front escalate, Mary is forced to face the realities of warfare - the enemy is operating amongst them. Posing as a waitress amidst the glamour and bustle of the Ritz Hotel, Mary uncovers secrets and lies amongst the people she's working mostly closely with. Can Mary steer clear of danger and thwart the devious mission unfolding around her?
There is just one thing she knows for sure: trust no one.
A nail-biting wartime story, perfect for readers aged 9 and up, and fans of Phil Earle, Robin Stevens, Lesley Parr and Hilary McKay. Rhian Tracey (Author)
Rhian Tracey was born in Swansea and grew up on the Welsh borders. As Rhian Ivory, the author has previously published The Boy Who Drew the Future and Hope. She got her first publishing deal at 26. Rhian teaches several days a week in a SEN department, working with students who have dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADD and other additional learning needs. She also volunteers with Medical Detection Dogs, helping to train puppies who will go on to be assistance dogs. Rhian lives in Northamptonshire with her children and dog.
A thrilling mystery adventure based on true historical events, from the author of I, SPY and HIDE AND SEEK. A companion novel to I, Spy: a Bletchley Park mystery - Blackwell's Children's Book of the Month and featured on BBC Radio 4 Front Row. Inspired by true events! During the war, Hitler's captive generals were treated to exquisite dining experiences at the Ritz, indulging them enough to let down their guard and share invaluable insights into military strategies, morale and even Hitler's inner circle discussions. WINK, MURDER focuses on the secrecy of the MI5 spy network in London in the 1940s, focusing on learning foreign languages to gather information from Japan and Germany. Combining the friendship and fun of Enid Blyton's classic Famous Five stories with an accessible contemporary style, perfect for fans of Phil Earle, Hilary McKay and Lesley Parr.
