He hopes to protect her from men-but only God can free her from fear. When Jeremiah Jackson discovers Deliverance, a beautiful runaway slave, hidden in his wagon, a protective spirit rises within him. She fled from the cruel and relentless Colonel Boone Baxter, who will stop at nothing to reclaim her-including searching the wagons from top to bottom before they are allowed to pull away from the fort. Thankfully, Mrs. Hawthorne has gone into labor early. Will hiding Del beneath the laboring woman be enough to keep her safe? Fear has been Deliverance's constant companion ever since Boone bought her away from her mother. As she cowers in the darkness of the crate beneath the laboring woman, terror whispers that Boone will never let her go-especially since she's carrying his child. She'll never be free. Then the soldiers come knocking, and her nightmare comes to life. Yet as the men begin to ransack the interior of the wagon, Deliverance discovers that courage is born not from the absence of fear, but from trusting God and resting in the victory-and freedom-of the battles He has already won.
