In this insightful, nonpartisan work, two respected pastors diagnose the roots of political conflict tearing apart the church and prescribe a practical and prophetic way toward faithful political engagement and ultimate allegiance to Jesus.
Have you noticed a deeper level of political division in your community or church? If so, you're not alone. Four political "religions" have arisen in America today. Untold numbers of Christians have unknowingly converted to these new-school political religions. Our devotion to the religions of Progress, Responsibility, Identity, and Security are distracting us from following Jesus and stirring up division in the church.
This powerful, accessible book exposes the religious nature of these new political movements and how they compete with faithfulness to Christ.
Rather than retreat from the political realm, “The Party Crasher” gives us language for our cultural dilemma and wisdom to faithfully navigate it. Key takeaways include:
• how to develop a Christian posture for political life and promote unity in the church
• when to be bold
• how to identify and repent from our political idols
• how the way we worship can help us avoid division
You will be equipped to live faithfully to Jesus in the political arena, regardless of your leanings, and inspired to give your deepest allegiance to Jesus. Joshua Ryan Butler serves as a lead pastor of Redemption Tempe and is the author of “Beautiful Union”, “The Skeletons in God's Closet”, and “The Pursuing God”.
