The Odyssey by Homer is an ancient Greek epic poem that tells the story of the Greek king Odysseus and his ten-year struggle to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While Odysseus faces angry gods, fierce monsters, and dangerous magical islands, his faithful wife Penelope and their son Telemachus try to protect his empty palace from rude men who want to marry her. When Odysseus finally reaches home in secret with help from the goddess Athena, he proves who he is, defeats the rude men, and takes back his kingdom.
