As the men learn to communicate and negotiate whether and when to come out to the world-big issues!-North conveys Ilya's depth as well as his mischievous side without turning his Russian accent into a cartoon. Shane is more reserved than Ilya, but with the way North performs both sides of their dialogue, with the two men always completely attuned to each other's rhythms, it's easy to see how they bring out the best in each other.
