Dan Werb, PhD, holds a dual appointment as assistant professor in the division of infectious diseases and global public health at the University of California San Diego and in the school of public health at the University of Toronto. He is an inaugural recipient of the U.S. National Institute of Drug Abuse's prestigious Avenir Award and has authored dozens of epidemiological studies investigating the link between the spread of disease and social conditions.
