In Oscar Wilde's bittersweet fable The Devoted Friend, kindness and loyalty are put to the test in a charming countryside tale with a sharply moral edge. Little Hans is a gentle gardener who believes deeply in friendship and generosity. His wealthy neighbor, the Miller, speaks poetically about loyalty, sacrifice, and noble intentions - yet never lifts a finger to help Hans in return. As the seasons turn and hardship rises, Hans gives everything he has in the name of friendship… until his devotion demands the ultimate price. Told with Wilde's signature wit and quiet tragedy, this timeless parable explores the danger of selfish virtue and the innocence of a heart too willing to give. Tender, ironic, and haunting, The Devoted Friend remains a powerful reminder that true friendship is measured not by fine words - but by genuine kindness. Narrated with warmth and emotional depth by Sara Dixon.
