A brilliant, funny new novel from the bestselling, beloved Danielle Hawkins.
Sometimes, you have to revisit your past to find your future. Laura-in her late 30s and single since her long-standing relationship with Doug broke up after he told her he didn't want children-finds herself back in his family's life, after a chance visit to his parents sees them in crisis and in need of her help.
Doug (now married with children) and his brother, serial dater Mick, are struggling to cope-their father Peter has terminal cancer, their mother Cat has just broken her leg and Doug's snooty French wife Camille has just gone into early labour. Laura is called upon by Mick to help mind Doug's kids, tend to Cat and Peter and mind Cat's bookshop. When Laura and Mick develop an intense attraction, Laura doesn't know what to do: having since discovered she is infertile, she doesn't want to ruin Mick's chance for a family and is worried everyone will judge her for dating her ex-partner's brother...
This is Danielle Hawkins' best novel yet, for fans of Liane Moriarty and Marian Keyes. Funny, tender and not afraid to tackle the big issues, it will have you laughing and shedding a tear in equal measure.
