A striking literary debut reminiscent of Barbara Kingsolver and Dorothy Allison.
Blue, a lonely adolescent, overcomes a disfiguring accident and misguided parents to create a rich life on her own terms. Aided by her Native American grandfather, a Passamaquoddy basket-maker, and the memory of a twin who died at birth, Blue embarks on an inner journey of self-discovery that takes innumerable unexpected turns. Set on the east coast of Maine, “Strong for Potatoes” is a novel permeated by unforgettable characters and stirring events.
