For five years, Thalia has kept her small Athens café running like a clock, and in all that time she has never once let her own coffee stay hot long enough to drink.
She knows every regular's order before they ask and apologizes for the weather she did not make. The holiday is paid for, and she is sitting in her bag, going nowhere for three weeks now. Then, sent to the storeroom for cinnamon, she finds a door that has no business existing: olive wood, curved into a wall she has swept past a thousand times. Beyond it lies Silverthread Cove, a shore of pale quartz and glowing tide pools where a whole fortnight can pass while the cup she set down upstairs is still steaming.
Nobody here is in a hurry. A wooden bridge won't let a soul cross until they slow their step. A market drifts in on the evening tide. And Leander, quiet at the great loom on the sand, is teaching Thalia the one thing five years behind a counter never could: that a crooked thread, left in on purpose, is worth more than a flawless one.
She has two weeks and five days before her old life expects her back. The hard part is learning to want to stay.
A standalone cozy portal fantasy with a gentle, closed-door slow-burn, a shore where nothing needs fixing, and a woman who finally lets her own cup go warm in her hands.
For listeners who love cozy, low-stakes fantasy and slow, warm mornings that never end.
