About
Susanna Shakespeare finds the small town of Stratford-upon-Avon much too quiet and provincial. Her beautiful voice and desire to sing are thwarted by law and custom, which forbid performances by women. A family tragedy sends her to London in pursuit of her dream and a closer relationship with her famous father and his world of players, poets, and the dangerous currents of Elizabethan politics. Along the way, she meets a young man, who sings with the noted St. Paul's Boys but whose political leanings could get them both into serious trouble.
